![]() About the USGenWeb Project The USGenWeb Project consists of a group of volunteers working together to provide Internet websites for genealogical research in every county and every state of the United States. The Project is non-commercial and fully committed to free access for everyone. Organization is by county and state, and this website provides you with links to all the state websites which, in turn, provide gateways to the counties. The USGenWeb Project also sponsors important Special Projects at the national level and this website provides an entry point to all of those pages, as well. Read about the History of the USGenWeb Project. I am Pat Sabin, County Coordinator and web master for the Colleton County SCGenWeb, as well as Dorchester and Bamberg Counties. My "lowcountry" families include Ayer, Byrd, Gavin, Hughes, Raysor, Risher, Stokes, and related families. The USGenWeb Project is a volunteer organization, and I consider myself a Steward to this site. I do not take ownership of this material, and for as long as I am your county coordinator, it will never be removed from the SCGenWeb. My contribution to this and other
USGenWeb
and independent history sites is in coordinating and web hosting.
Since I live and work in Atlanta, Georgia, I regret to say that I
have neither the time nor the knowledge to help with personal research
questions unless it coincides with my own family research. It is
my hope that the information contained on this
site will be of help in your "low country" South Carolina research.

| WE NEED YOU!
If you have just a little bit of spare time, we need your help in
getting more information online for those genealogists who can't come
to
South Carolina to do research. (Besides, it's a wonderful way to
honor your own heritage). Please check out this page to see how
you
can make a valuable contribution to this Project:
If you have any transcribed deeds or other records relating
to your
family on your personal web page, we would like to link to them from
this
page. Contact Pat
Sabin to supply a link for this page or submit a photograph or
transcription. If you are interesting in adopting a county with the
SCGenWeb Project, contact the SCGenWeb State Coordinator, Victoria
