neurosurgeons are trained with, and have a strong preference for one
brand of shunt. Certainly, a question you'll want to ask your
neurosurgeon on your first visit is what type of shunt will be used and
why.
Most neurosurgeons will program the original setting to a mid-range. The valve setting of a programmable shunt can be adjusted by your neurosurgeon in his/her office using a special magnet.
