Dr.
Frierson was
the son of Robert Ethan Frierson and Rebecca Robeson Crosland
Frierson.
Grandson
of Dr.
David Ethan Frierson Confederate Chaplain and Presbyterian Minister,
and
direct
descendant
of early Scotch settler, William Frierson, who settled in Kingstree, SC
in 1732.
Dr.
Frierson was
reared at Heardmont, Georgia. He was a graduate of Davidson
College,
Union
Theological
Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Baptist Theological
Seminary.
He was a
learned
man with many interests and was known widely as a Presbyterian
Minister,
Horticulturist
and Nursery Man. His collections of Hollies and Camellias were known
far
and wide.
Tens of
thousands
of plants that grace many of the homes of the Eastern United States
were
propagated
by
him. His creed was John 3:16. Born in Anderson June 2, 1893 and died in
Denmark
October
15, 1968.
