GETHSMANE BAPTIST CHURCH 
On Clear Pond Road near intersection with Howell Mill Road
Bamberg County, South Carolina

Plaque on church reads:  "Established 1876 by first Pastor, first Deacons,  S. McMillan, H. Garvin, Bob Jones, R. Boatwright. This work  done by  deacons H. Wilson, H. Barnwell, W. Pauls, C. Thomas, Sr., M. Middleton, S. L. Stephens, T. Kirkland, Rev. C.A. Ziegler. Completed September 12, 1939".

Cemetery is across the street from the church.  Earliest  (marked)  graves appear to be early 1900's.  Cemetery is moderately maintained, but is bordered by heavy underbrush and bamboo, so some old graves may be obscured. One plot surrounded by a wrought iron fence has no visible graves within.  I wish I had had more time to spend here.  Here are a few of the names seen:
 L. H. and Lee W. Henderson, Jenkins, Gerta (?) A. wife of C. L. Smith, Nov. 27, 1867-Jan 12, 1905; Minnie daughter of C. L. and G. Smith,  Daniel Rumph, Lizzie Gilbert, D. W. Samuel, Owens, Garvin, Able, Paul.
