PAUL
Looking for family history of the PAUL family. I have visited Walterboro and found a cemetery plot for PAUL family. Also found plots for farmer James PAUL who had a daughter Eugenia. Looking for decendants who were probably slaves of James. The 1870(?) census reflected them as mullatoes, names were Eugenia, Hopton, and I believe Fabrel. They were Episcopalians but I could not get into the church to research church records. Any info appreciated. The plot (name of cemetery I do not remember) was full of PAULs in the same area. |

PAUL
I have compiled a list of many of the descendents of Sampson Leith Paul b 1820 d 1904 in Family Tree Maker format. Sampson L Paul lived in Walterboro and is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetary in Walterboro. On Nov 1 1997 we had a reunion of the living descendents of Charles Leith Paul, the son of Sampson in Beaufort. I would be most interested in any information on the parents of this Sampson L Paul and of his wife Clara McBride who is buried beside Sampson in Walterboro. |

PELLUM - HILL - ADDISON
Mary Ann PELLUM, born 1 Sep. 1853, probably Walterboro or Cottageville area. Died 25 Oct. 1884, 3 days after giving birh to 4th child, Walter Leroy HILL. Mary Ann married John Napoleon HILL, son of John HILL and Mary ADDISON. John Napoleon HILL died 10 Apr 1936 in Hendersonville. Records show that when Mary Ann PELLUM died she held 36 and one-half ac. of land "in her own right". Assume this land left to her by her father? Who was he? In 1902 John Napoleon HILL and J. A. HILL (his son Hames Addison HILL?) sold this 36 and one-half ac. to C.W. PELLUM. Land was bounded by lands of Gilbert Hudson, David Ramsey and James E. PELLUM. What relation were C. W. PELLUM and James PELLUM to Mary Ann? Children of Mary Ann and John N. HILL were James Addison, John Sifley, Mary Susan and Walter Leroy. Any help on these families greatly appreciated. |

PETERS
Seeking information about Thomas PETER(S) b abt 1683 in Colleton District. He wed, abt 1703, Margaret Dedcoat. Records were lost in the 1713 storm but the Rev. Archibald Stobo, Presbyterian minister in Charles Town from 1699, testified that he had married Thomas PETERS and Margaret in 1703, baptised, in 1711, their son Samuel PETERS (b 16 Sep 1710) and married their daughter Elizabeth PETER (b 4 Nov 1716) to John McKEOWN of Colleton County on 17 Oct 1731. Was Thomas a son of William PETERS who arrived in 1682, with wife Mary, sons Robert, William and John (and servants Davis, Hilliar and Browning) and had some 1,122 acres on the Edisto River? Thomas died before 1731, when his wife wed, second, a Copplee. |
