WALKER

George WALKER (b~1804) and wife Martha (b~1820) were listed in the 1860 census of Colleton Co. with the following children: Elizabeth (b~1844), Delilah (b~1846) married David Lee SMOAK, Jane (b~1850), Victoria (b~1851), Malinda (b~1853), George (b~1854), David (b~1855), and Henrietta (b~1857). Also listed were James 27, Berry 21, and Redillin 20 - assume they were all WALKERS as no other name was listed, their occupation was farm labor, therefore I don't know if they were children or hired hands.
Delilah and David Lee SMOAK lived in Barnwell/Bamberg Co and are buried in Springtown Baptist Church Cemetary, Bamberg Co, no markers on their graves. Appreciate any information on this family - will be glad to exchange.

ZEIGLER

I need information on the ZEIGLER family that lived in Colleton County in the 1700s. I understand that Michael ZEIGLER enlisted from Indian Fields for the Indian Wars of 1750s/1760s. Our family history says he was buried in the Zeigler/Felder cemetary in Bamberg, SC. however there is no marker there for him or either of his wives. He may have been buried in Indian Fields or Charleston where he also lived. There should be a DAR Revolutionary Marker to him where ever he is buried. If there are records of Michael there or the location of his grave is known, we would like to come down and do research.
