Capt. George Washington Raysor died of heart failure Thursday afternoon at the age of 76, having apparently been in good health. His wife had passed away just three weeks earlier. He had retired from  business several years earlier as a partner in the Stokes and Raysor Lumber Company. At the time of his death he was a director in the Farmers & Merchants Bank, Walterboro Cotton Oil Company, and Cummings Iron Works and Supply Company.

Mrs. Snook was born in Colleton County on September 25, 1916 and was a daughter of the late Soloman Elliott Hickman and Pearl Herndon Hickman.

She was a retired secretary with Nationwide Insurance Co. and a beautician. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery.

Mr. Strickler was born March 18, 1948 in Charleston, S.C., He was a graduate of James Island High School and attended the Baptist College. Mr. Strickler retired as a photographer. Mr. Walter Leroy Stutts, 82, of Walterboro, passed away Monday morning, February 16, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness and under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.


He was the husband of the late Mrs. Elberta Moyer Stutts. Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, February 18, 2009, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, Jefferies Blvd, Walterboro, with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy.

Mr. Stutts was born April 26, 1925, in Walterboro, and was a son of the late C. H. Stutts and the late Lanie Roberts Stutts. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for seven years and was a retired driver with Brayline Trucking Company.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3433 in Ladson and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
