                                                  MRS MARY POLK BRABHAM

November 10, 1919 - Mary Polk Brabham died at her home here October 23. She was born near Cross Swamp church, January, 1860, making her earthly pilgrimage a little over 59 years.

 In February 1885, she was happily married to W F (William Francis) Brabham of Barnwell County. He died March 1, 1914.

 Mrs Brabham leaves four children: Mrs (Ella Sue) E J Carter, Mrs (Effie) W P Ulmer, J E (James E - Jimmie) and J A (Joseph Allen “Allie”) Brabham and five step children: E M (s/b C M- Charles Martin), Lucy, Sallie, Laurie (William Lawrence) and Jessie (Jessie Dubois) Brabham.

 Her last illness covered a period of about ten weeks. She had been in failing health for several years and was very weak when last attacked. She bore her suffering patiently and always said that she was ready to go home when her heavenly Father saw fit to call her.

She was laid to rest beside her husband in the family burying ground near the Cross Swamp church. The funeral services being conducted by Rev W T Bedenbaugh of the Methodist church.         (Paper dated Nov 12, 1919)
