Album Carolina Inn, Summerville, South Carolina Purchased by Sarah Woodruff (Mrs. Harry Woodruff) as a private residence in the early 1900's, and known as "White Gables," the Carolina Inn was located at the corner of Sumter and West Carolina Streets in Summerville. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Woodruff turned her home into an inn. According to "Summerville, 1847-1997 - Our History", by Barbara Lynch Hill, a tavern was located at this location as early as 1810, known as Morre's Tavern.
