Location: 7 miles east of Grover on S-18-19, Old Wire Road, then .3 mi. south. The first burials in Rumph Cemetery were, "Infant children of J. J. and I. H. Rumph - Born Jan. 15, 1886, Died Jan. 19, 1886." No names were written on tombstone. An epidemic of some disease may have caused the deaths. These were the children of John Jacob and Ida Henrietta E. Rumph. They, also, lost a son, Earnesteen Worsen Rumph, in 1903. The oldest remaining tombstone of an adult was that of Hazard P. Rumph who was born in 1825 and died in 1891, and who is said to have given the lot for the cemetery. The road leading from S-18-19 to the cemetery was given by Charlie Rumph. This burying ground too, is surrounded with a chain link fence recently installed and beautiful large trees. It is truly a Rumph Cemetery as few others are resting there. The trustees who raised the funds for this restoration were: Herbert Rumph, Harry Rumph, Bessie Rumph, and Jay Rumph. Margaret J. Rumph and Marion F. RumphCopyists: Pattie W. Heaton, Lillian H. Harley, Margaret J. & Marion F. Rumph.Date: March 1979
