Obituary of Emma Bunch Smith

Emma Smith
Mrs. Emma Smith died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her residence, Fifty-first and Hopkins streets, after a long illness. Surviving are her husband, G. Ollie Smith; one sister, Mrs. Ida Cordray of Charleston, S. C.; two nieces, Mrs. C. P. Weeks of Charleston and Mrs. C. L. Goolsby of Savannah; and one nephew, James L. Smith of Savannah. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Calvary Baptist Temple. The Rev. Dr. John S. Wilder, pastor, will conduct services, and burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery. (Savannah Morning News, Jun. 21, 1940) Note: Emma BUNCH SMITH was the daughter of Andrew J. and Susan BUNCH of Colleton and Dorchester counties. Her siblings were John Jacob BUNCH and Ida BUNCH SMITH CORDRAY, both of Charleston. |
