with his permission. This a portrait of Hugh Ditzler's young
cousin,
Major Earl Gates, 1895. It's believed that this is by Hugh
Ditzler, but it is unlike his typical "hard edged" style. It may
actually be by Hannah Ditzler (Alspaugh), aunt of Hugh Ditzler, who was a prolific artist and writer in Naperville, Illinois.
