Mary Stenger Scherer and Christian Scherer

Mrs. Mary Stenger Scherer was born in Naperville, Ill., on June 13, 1853, and passed away at her home, 25 E. Jefferson Avenue, on Monday, December 3rd, 1928, at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 20 days.  She lived her entire life in Naperville.

On December 30th, 1873, she was married to Mr. Christian Scherere and together they enjoyed fifty-five years of wedded life, having celebrated their golden wedding anniversary five years ago.

She leaves to mourn her going the bereaved husband; one daughter, Mrs. Emma Mertz; two sons, William and Harry Scherer; and six grandchildren; also two brothers Nicholas and Adolph Stenger; all of Naperville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nicholas Stenger; her mother, Elizabeth Stenger; two sisters, Mrs. G. A. Yost and Mrs. Elizabeth Ester.

Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternooon where amidst flowers of remembrance, the Rev. Henry Stephan of Freeport, Ill., officiated, assisted by Rev. Dore Ester of Chicago.

Burial was made in the Naperville cemetery.
