Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Mae  Ester

The summons to the eternal home came to Mrs. Elizabeth Mae Ester (nee Stenger) in the Aurora City hospital, toward the evening of October 18th, 1921.  Worn and weary with labor and suffering she fell asleep in the Everlasting Arms.

She was born in Naperville, Illinois, may 22, 1865.  her age was 56 years, 7 months, and 9 days.  All her live was lived in Naperville.

Her early years were spent at the Academy and Ellsworth schools, after which she attended North-Western College, where she met Mr. George Ester, to whom she was married on November 29, 1889.  To this union four children were born.  They are Mrs. Evelyn Welch of San Francisco, Calif.,  George, of Naperville, Rev. Dore of Chicago, and Lucile who died January 28, 1910.  Her husband died Nov. 26, 1907.  There is one grandchild, Evelyn Lucile Welch.  The brothers and sisters who remain are Adolph and Nicholas Stenger, Mrs. Christian Scherer, and Mrs. G. A. Yost.

She was brought up in a Christian home, and was converted in Grace Church, of which she became a member.

Her life was spent in service for others. for many years she tenderly and loving cared for her mother, who in the evening of life was comforted by this kind and thoughtful devotion.  She spared nothing to make the eventide light for her aged mother. Fro a year and three months she made a home for Rev. L. B. Tobias and mistered to him in his illness as a thoughtful nurse.  the task  was seemingly too much for her and she gave way under the strain and had to be taken to the hospital.  All that kind hands and medical skill could do was done for her, but her sacrificial work was done, and the Heavenly Father called her to rest. "Blessed are those who die in the Lord, yea saith the Spirit, they rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."

In the closing days of her life she expressed a sweet confidence in God and took her burden to the Lord in prayer.  She showed a deep appreciation of the loving ministrations of a Christian nurse and a Christian physician, and of all the kind interest that her loved ones and friends manifested in her.

Funeral services were conducted at Grace Evangelical Church on Friday, October 21, by her paster, Rev. L. C. Schmidt, who was assisted by Rev. H. C. Stephen, of Weston, Ill., Rev. H. W. Lambert and Rev. Harry Vom Bruch of of Chicago. The Radaeke Trio of Chicago sang comforting selections.  The floral tributes were most beautiful.
