    Prospect United Methodist
Prospect United Methodist Church
Corner of Prospect Road and Prospect Church Road, north of Hwy 124

Lawrenceville, Georgia

Established 1830 in the Dacula circuit.
"Vanishing Gwinnett" depicts a twin-steepled white frame building, which is said to have been built in 1880. According to James Flanigan's "History of Gwinnett County Churches" (1911), the charter members were Henry J. Stevenson, Febie Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs. William Davis,  Mr. and Mrs. Lige Teague, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Crumley, Mrs. and Mrs. John Fountain, and Mr. and Mrs. Burl Seagrove.  The building above is now used as a fellowship hall.
The current sanctuary building is to the left, and was built 1988.   The cemetery is located across Prospect Road from the church.  It appears to be still in use.  Many older graves are 1880s and early 1900s, but there are graves dating to the 1830s.  There are several large uncut stones marking some graves.
