Born in Georgia around 1848 or 1849, died May 18 or 19, 1882.
We learn that Mr. John Berry, a citizen of Archey Valley township, met with an accident last Thursday or Friday, which resulted in almost instant death. He was ploughing in a field near the house, took out his knife and cut a hickory bush, as if to get the bark for some purpose, and in attempting to strip the bark down, it gave way suddenly, the blade of his knife entering the inner side of his thigh and severing the femoral artery, from which death ensued almost immediately. He called to his wife and she ran to him and raised his head to her lap, but he only breathed once or twice after she reached him.

John F. Berry - Son of Prettyman and Elizabeth Berry.  Born 1848 in Hog Mountain, Georgia.  John married Mary Jane Willingham (daughter of William Brooks Willingham 1830 and Francis Jane Thomas ).
John lived his entire youth in Hog Mountain, Georgia until after the Civil War, when he moved to Arkansas with his father.  John and Mary Jane gave birth to a duaghter, Mary Jane Berry in Hog Mountain, Georgia in 1869.  After they moved to Arkansas, John and Mary Jane gave birth to Sarah Berry, Thomas Berry and James Prettyman Berry.
John died in his wife's arms after he accidently cut his leg with a knife on May 18, 1887.
After John's death, Mary Jane was re-married to William R. Scarberry.  Mary Jane and William Scarberry gave birth to Nancy Scarberry, Viney Scarberry, John Scarberry and Sarah F. Scarberry.
