Mrs. Ann D. Whetsell, wife of Jacob Whetsell, died, in St. George's Parish,
on the 2nd Feb., in her 49th year.

Endowed by nature with a gentle and modest disposition, almost under any
circumstances she must have attained to amiability in womanhood.  She joined
the M.E.Church more than 30 years ago, since which time her works have ever
attested the soundness and reality of her faith.  As a mother, whe was
affectionate almost to a fault; as a mistress, kind, merciful and
beneficent.  Possessed of considerable property, she contributed liberally
to the support of the church and ministry, gave cheerfully to the needy, and
offered consolation to the sorrowing or distressed.  During her last illness
she exhibited the most untiring patience.  Although conscious of approaching
dissolution, she manifested neither fear nor anxiety; but often spoke of the
goodness of God, and expressed nothing but submission to the Divine will;
thus she passed away from earth, but still lives in the hearts of her two
surviving children and numerous friends.
