According to the late Jo Davis, of Johnson City, Tennessee:

"This was taken in front of the house near Cross Anchor that Jesse and Elizabeth (Shanks) Davis built.  I don't know who the young boy sitting in the chair is.  The two little girls seated in front are probably Uncle John's - He had 7 girls.

"Front Row, l to r:  My daddy Jesse, John White, Aunt Lizzie Davis McAmis holding Mildred, Aunt Emma White, the next two elderly ladies must be wives of Uncles billy and Alex.  The woman on right holding baby is Aunt Jennie McAmis Davis- Uncle John's wife.  The little girl on the left of her and the one seated in the chair are also their children.

"Second Row: Bill McAmis (Aunt Lizzie's husband), Uncle Elmer Bert Davis; the next six men are Davis brothers, the lady in front possibly the wife of one of them...continuing...the young man in back is John K. Davis, Mae Davis, Uncle John B. and Ferne Davis.  Mae and Ferne are also daughters of John and Jennie."

Based on Jo's identification of the baby, Mildred, this photograph would have been taken around 1907-08.   Originally, I had William S. Davis' date of death as 1890, but I have found a death record for 1919 that I believe is this William S. Davis.
