East Tennessee History and Genealogy

MYSTERY PHOTOGRAPH!  HELP ME IDENTIFY THIS PHOTOGRAPH.  I BELIEVE IT WAS TAKEN AT TENNESSEE EASTMAN CORPORATION IN THE EARLY 1940s.  IF YOU HAD FRIENDS OR RELATIVES WHO WORKED THERE DURING WORLD WAR 2, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK!

Welcome to East Tennessee!   The photograph  is of the Nolichucky River, between Erwin and Jonesborough. This is a very old site created in 2000, and over the years, I have updated computers and software, and some pages that were housed at Ancestry's "Rootsweb.com" have disappeared from the internet.  The most recent update is 10/10/15, but in February 2018, I am slowly updating pages.  Please let me know if you find any broken links.  The final pages to update will be vintage postcards, and that will take a lot of time. I still have a few family mysteries, so I would love to hear from another connected to these families! I am also looking for photographs of the children of James Madison White of Greene County, Tennessee.
God's Country

Our roots are buried deep in the hills of East Tennessee.   My mother's families,  descendants of Frederick Tillman White and Jesse Davis, were present in Greene Country prior to 1800 and remained there  when other family members migrated west to Kansas and Missouri.

Our father was born in Jonesborough, the home of his Sevier and Cunningham ancestors.  The Cunningham, Sevier, Galbreath and Blair families were early settlers of Washington and Greene Counties in Tennessee.  Captain Robert Sevier, my 4th Great Grandfather and younger brother of General John Sevier,  was mortally wounded at the Battle of King's Mountain, and died on October 16, 1780 while in route to his home in Tennessee.

I have scanned and digitally restored a few East Tennessee vintage postcards, and the high resolution digital images are available CHEAP on this page: http://www.oldplaces.org/vintage_images/
