Yellow River Park,
Snellville, Georgia
|
The Yellow River
meanders more
or less north-south through Gwinnett County. According to my map
book, it begins in the a few miles
south of Old Peachtree Road, east of
Highway 20, and west of Hwy 124, and crosses (just barely) Azalea
Drive.. This is north of the city
of Lawrenceville, and north
west of Dacula. It turns, and continues to flow southwest,
missing the City of Lawrenceville by several miles. Then,
it turns and begins to flow east of the town of Lilburn. It only
widens south of Lester Road. It passes Centerville, and
flows through
a corner of DeKalb County and into Rockdale County.
The Yellow River Park, just south of Annistown Road, is a
beautiful spot. I can imagine that it looked very much like this
hundreds of
years ago. Believe it or not, the top photographs
were taken in early and late April, 2004. It's amazing how fast
spring arrives in Atlanta!
