  Chaney Couch
Bounty Land Warrant - 1850

County of Gwinnett}ss  On this 25th day of November 1850 personally appeared before me William Maltbie a Justice of the Inferior Court, within, and for the County and State aforesaid, Chaney Couch age thirty four years, a resident of Gwinnett County, in the State of Georgia, who being duly sworn according to law, declares, that he is the identical person who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Hamilton Garmany in the Regiment of Mounted Volunteer Infantry commanded by General J. A. W. Sanford in the war with the Creek Indians, that he volunteered at Lawrenceville State of Georgia on or about the 3rd day of May 1836, for the term of three months, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of two months and upward and was honorably discharged at Columbus in the State of Georgia on the 24th day of July 1836, as will appear by his original certificate herewith presented.

 

He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled, under the act granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States passed September 28, 1850.  Sworn to and subscribed before me, the day and year above written.  And I hereby certify, that I believe the said Chaney Couch to be the identical man who served as aforesaid, and that he is of the age above stated.

County of Gwinnett}ss  I Lyman F. Wilcox Clerk of the Superior Court of the County and State aforesaid do hereby certify that William Maltbie is a Justice of the Inferior Court in and for said County, duly commissioned and qualified, that his commission was dated on the 5th day of January 1849; and will expire on the first Monday in January 1853; and that his signature above is genuine.

 

Given under my hand and seal of said court this 27th day of  _ _ _ _ _, (seal covers month of date) 1850.
