A NOTE ABOUT THE ORIGINAL CARDS AND THE DIGITAL IMAGES

Postal Mailing Cards predated the popular "Penny Postcards" of the early 20th Century.  The Columbian Exposition organizers strictly controled any photography, print media, and souviners, and this series of postcards is Copyright 1893 by Charles W. Goldsmith, Agent for the United States.  The Isabella.   48 Van Buren St. Chicago. American Lithograph Co. N.Y. Litho.

The cards were not sold outside the Exposition grounds.  Most in my collection are not postally used.  However, they have been around for well over 100 years, and have been handled and exposed to light.  I have done the best I can to match the lithograph pattern of the background color (what looks "blank"  to the naked eye is actually a series of dots in circle patterns).  There is no reasonable way to even the color completely, but that's part of the charm of an antique postcard.   I think these images are enchanting!

The printing and cutting process was less than uniform, and every card is a slightly different size. Some original cards have one white border, some have borders on top and bottom, or top and side, and others have no border at all.  I decided to deal with the irregularities by removing the borders and sizing all to 6" width.  That means that the height will vary slightly from card to card.

YOUR ORDER  of up to three digital  images will be e-mailed one at a time (they are large files). Larger orders will be burned to a CD and mailed at no cost to you.  I will e-mail you when your order is received, and you may let me know of any special requests for delivery.   I will ALWAYS respond within 24 hours, and usually within two hours. Don't hesitate to E-MAIL  with any questions.   Please Read Terms of  Use.   Enjoy!  Pat Sabin
