There is a monument in the back garden of Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Wimberly. Mr. Wimberly states that there were about three others that were broken into small pieces with most of the information gone. It has been told to us by several people that the tombstones from the burying ground had been moved and the land plowed. No one of this generation seems to know just where the spot was; and the stones were moved and piled under a tree in the back yard of one of the owners. This owner may or may not have been a relation to the persons buried there. The present owners, Mr. & Mrs. Wimberly, came into possession of this stone, and Mrs. Wimberly stated that she would place it and plant flowers around to beautify. The Wimberlys have done a beautiful job of preservation and restoration on this historical old home, known as the "Gavin House." The Gavins were very prominent in St. George early; however, there are no male descendents to carry on the name, only relatives with the Gavin blood and other surnames. The derivation on the "Wimberly Home" is as follows: Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Wimberly purchased the above property from Mr. James S. Hart, who bought from Mr. D. E. Epps, who acquired same from the D. W. Gavin Estate. Mary K. WimberlyCopyists: Lillian D. Kizer, Lillian H. Harley.
